In the month of monsoon, Teej is celebrated to welcome the Monsoon. Monsoon rains fall on the thirsty land and the aroma of the wet soil rises into the air. Swings are hung from trees and women dressed beautifully and sang songs.
This festival is devoted to the Goddess Parvati, memorialize her union with Lord Shiva. An embellished cortege is taken out in Jaipur for two continuous days on the festive occasion which is enjoyed by people in large numbers.
Women wore the accessories like bindis, bangles and ethnic dresses; worshiped Goddess Parvati. Family sends clothes, sweets specially Ghevar to their daughter’s home and celebrated their day.
